Lyrics for Iba. On August 27, 1981, Bassey was born in Lagos, Nigeria. His birthplace is Ikot Ofon Ikono in the Uyo local government area of Akwa-Ibom state in south-south Nigeria. His father, Mr. E. Joshua Bassey, served as a priest in the Bashua Assembly of the Apostolic Church. He attended the University of Lagos to study politics and international relations before relocating to London to continue his studies. On the other hand, he attended the Middlesex University Summer School to study music. Sarah Bassey and Nathaniel Bassey are wed. Despite having known one other for twelve years before to their marriage, they were married in 2013.

After beginning his musical career in the chapel, Nathaniel joined the Rhodes Orchestra and spent two years playing the trumpet. In 2004, he collaborated with renowned jazz musicians including Wole Oni and Yinka Davies on the album “New Jazz Stew Project: Revelation” and wrote a song during the visit to Stella Obasanjo, the late wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Bassey was a prominent performer at The Experience, a Nigerian Christian event, in 2018. In 2008, he recorded and mixed his debut album, Elohim, in Cape Town, South Africa. With the hit song, it has been called a spiritual and artistic masterpiece.

Nathaniel initiated the #HallelujahChallenge. He and other believers worshiped God for an hour in June 2017, from 12:00 am to 1:00 am. He encourages people to join him as he streams this event on his Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram sites. The event received over 600,000 views in less than a month. In 2020, the #HallelujahChallenge took place from February 4–24. In 2021, it took place from February 1–21.[10] From February 10 to March 1, 2025, #HallelujahChallenge2025 took place.
