WHAT IS TEA?

The majority of tea is a beverage prepared by covering cured camellia sinensis leaves with hot water. The beverage was originally created in china and has a lengthy international history. Tea was first used medicinally before it started to become well liked as a leisure drink.

WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON TEA?

Black tea usually the most often consumed kind of tea worldwide, though this can vary according on your geographical location. Because of its intense flavor, black tea is frequently seen as a pantry need.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEA

1. BLACK TEA

With good reason, black is one of the most popular varieties. The tea leaves are oxidized during manufacture, followed by heat treatment and drying. The tea’s distinctive dark color and strong, slightly sour flavor come from this method. Among the popular types of black tea are

i. English breakfast tea : Served with milk, sugar and a slice of fresh lemon, this malty, bittersweet tea is brewed from a blend of black tea leaves.

ii. Masala chai: Served heated with milk and sugar, this black tea beverage has warm spices such as cinnamon, cloves,ginger and anise.

2. GREEN TEA

Green tea is not oxidized during production like black tea is ; instead, it is dried and heat treated to maintain the plant’s earthy, mild flavors and bright color.

3. YELLOW TEA

The fermentation process used to produce yellow tea gives it a flavor that is sweet, nutty and faintly flowery. It is classified as a tea that lies between green and black tea. Because this kind of tea requires careful fermentation, you won’t often find yellow tea at your neighborhood tea shop.

4. WHITE TEA

White tea, which is sometimes regarded as the most delicate variety, is made by collecting young camellia sinensis buds and rapidly drying them to avoid oxidation 

5. OOLONG TEA

Similar to black tea varietals, oolong tea oxidizes during processing, although much less so. Oolong tea has sweet flavors like honey, fruit, and even faint floral undertones, whereas black tea a slightly sour taste 

7. HERBAL TEA

 Herbal tea is classified as a distinct type of tea since it is not derived from camellia sinensis plant but rather from herbs, fruits, flowers or other botanicals, even if it is packed and brewed similarly to other teas.
